17. Cities of the Plain

This one's a huge falling off from The Crossing. I actually think it's a bad book on a couple of levels. "Goddamn whores," Billy Parham laments at JGC's end in the first line of McCarthy dialogue I can remember as ridiculous. "Because women need to rescued?" (Anne's comment after my description of the book). Is that the thesis? You'd have to convince me it isn't.
