There are no flashbacks or scenes of interaction w/ any of the characters and the dying mother. That didn't strike me until a few hours after watching. I had to ask Jess, and I think it's true. So all the work of coaxing your tears has to be done via talking *about* and *nearby* the dying mother. This seems more a theater thing than a movie thing. Do movies do this?
